In 1996 the production of metal art was launched. The metal art is made from recycled materials such as old oil drums and pieces of car wrecks. This art form was started because Turks and Caicos Islands are not blessed with raw materials such as wood, from which many other Caribbean artists make their products. Since early 1998 metal art made in TCI has been exported to galleries and stores in Europe, USA and Africa.

The metal art can be custom designed, i.e. anything from business card holders to light switch covers to coffee tables.
